Hair Restoration Surgery
Initially pioneered by dermatologists , the field of hair restoration is an exciting and dynamic speciality in contemporary medicine. Although the public is largely unaware of results possible with the refined techniques that have evolved over the past 20 – 30 years. Advanced technologies enable surgeons to achieve more aesthetically pleasing results than ever before. Hair transplantation was the major break through when Dr Norman Orentreich (father of Hair restoration surgery) first published reports of using hair bearing auto grafts for restoration of male pattern baldness.
Hair transplantation is the perfect solution for those who are psychologically distressed due to their baldness .This small surgery can lead to a more secure & fulfilling sense of self and youthful appearance.
Hair transplantation is an artistic job and excellent results can be achieved successfully in expert hands. Simply undergoing a hair transplant without actually evaluating the cause of hair loss in a patient can lead to failure of the surgery. Hence it is very important to keep in mind a few limitations of hair transplantation like LPP , scarring alopecia etc in which a hair transplant may not be successful. A dermatologist after evaluating the cause of your hair loss can guide you in such cases.
Currently ,there are few methods of hair transplantation :
Strip method : In this method , the donor tissue is harvested from the back of the scalp and then follicular units grafts are harvested and then implanted into the recipient site.
IFUE or IFUT technique : In this individual follicular grafts are taken from the various sites of the body like upper chest , back ,hands , back of the scalp and then implanted onto the recipient site. This is the most popular technique nowadays.
Improvised IFUE :In this technique , lasers and transplant pen are used to extract the follicles from the donor area. This is the latest therapy employed by AntiAging Skin Clinic and requires the least down time and has great aesthetic results.
